Pink wallpaper
What a pink screen is for
Pink is a pale red, so it drives all three subpixels at uneven levels. That makes it good at revealing color banding, which shows up as visible steps rather than a smooth field.
Pink is red with the volume down
There is no pink wavelength either. Pink is red mixed with white, which on a display means the red subpixel at full output with green and blue partly raised. What that mixing does is reduce saturation while keeping the hue, and it is why pink reads as gentle where the same hue at full saturation reads as urgent. It also means a pink screen is a lighter field than red: useful if you want a warm background that dark text can sit on, since text on full red is close to unreadable.
The Baker-Miller pink experiments, and their fate
In the late 1970s a specific shade of pink was reported to reduce aggression in prison holding cells, and it was adopted in a number of institutions on that basis. The finding has held up badly. Later attempts to replicate it produced weak or contradictory results, and any calming effect appears to be short-lived at best. It survives as a genuinely interesting example of how quickly an appealing result spreads, and it is worth treating claims about colour changing behaviour with the same caution.
Using a pink field
As a light source, pink gives a warm cast that is flattering on skin because it adds the same reds that skin already reflects, which is why it turns up in beauty lighting and photo booths. As a screen test, its usefulness is that it drives all three subpixels at different levels, so any channel that is misbehaving skews the shade in an obvious direction rather than simply going dark. If a pink screen looks orange or lilac rather than pink, the panel or its colour profile is worth checking.

Pink color values
The exact values for this shade, if you need to match it somewhere else.
| Hex | #FFC0CB |
|---|---|
| RGB | 255, 192, 203 |
| HSL | 350°, 100%, 88% |
| CMYK | 0%, 25%, 20%, 0% |
| Contrast on white | 1.54:1 |
| Contrast on black | 13.65:1 |
Contrast ratios follow the WCAG formula. Anything at or above 4.5:1 is readable as body text against that background, and 3:1 is the floor for large headings. Pink reaches that bar on black.

Measured as perceived difference, not by name, so these are the shades that genuinely sit nearest pink to the eye.
Questions
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. On mobile the page fills the screen when you tap the panel. Some browsers keep a thin status bar visible, which is a browser limit rather than something the page controls.
Will a pink screen fix a stuck pixel?
Sometimes. A stuck pixel is lit in one color and can occasionally be freed by cycling colors rapidly for a few minutes. A dead pixel receives no power at all and cannot be recovered in software.
What is the hex code for this pink screen?
This page uses #FFC0CB. The same value is shown in RGB, HSL and CMYK further down, so you can match this exact shade somewhere else.
Does a pink screen save battery?
No, and on an OLED or AMOLED screen a light color costs more power than a dark one, because every pixel has to be lit. If battery life is the goal, use the black screen instead.
Can I download this pink as a wallpaper?
Yes. There is a ready-made 1920 by 1080 PNG on this page, and the panel above will generate the same color at your own screen size, at 1440p or 4K, or at phone dimensions. No watermark and no sign-up.
Is it free?
Yes, and there is no sign-up. The page draws a color; that is the whole tool.
