Cyan wallpaper

Cyan wallpaper - solid cyan background, 1920 x 1080, hex #00FFFF

A plain cyan wallpaper at 1920 by 1080, ready to download. It is a flat single-color image with no pattern, gradient or watermark, which is what makes it useful as a desktop or phone background when you want the icons to be the only thing on screen.

If you need a different size, the panel above will generate this exact color at your screen's resolution, at 1440p or 4K, or at common phone dimensions. Both routes give you the same #00FFFF.

What a cyan screen is for

Cyan is green and blue at full strength with no red, one of the print primaries. Comparing it against a printed sample is a rough way to see how far your screen sits from print color.

Cyan in printing versus cyan on a screen

Cyan is one of the three subtractive primaries used in printing, alongside magenta and yellow, and it is the ink that absorbs red light while reflecting green and blue. On a screen the logic reverses: cyan is produced by lighting the green and blue subpixels together and leaving red off. The two systems reach the same perceived colour by opposite routes, adding light in one case and subtracting it in the other, which is the practical reason a design that looks vivid on a monitor can print disappointingly. Screen cyan is more saturated than any cyan ink can manage.

A bright colour that behaves like a light one

Because cyan combines green, which carries most of the perceived brightness, with blue, a full cyan screen is one of the brightest fields a display produces, brighter than pure green alone and close to white in apparent intensity. That makes it useful as a light source with a cool cast, and it makes it tiring to look at directly for long. It also gives it unusually good contrast against black and unusually poor contrast against white, so as a background it wants dark text on it.

What a cyan field tests

Driving green and blue together with red completely off isolates a specific failure. If a cyan screen shows any red tint, the red channel is not switching off cleanly, which is a symptom worth noticing on an older or badly calibrated panel. Dark dots on a cyan field indicate a fault in either the green or blue subpixel, so it is a fast combined check, and stepping to green and blue individually afterwards will tell you which of the two is responsible.

CMYK100%, 0%, 0%, 0%

Contrast ratios follow the WCAG formula. Anything at or above 4.5:1 is readable as body text against that background, and 3:1 is the floor for large headings. Cyan reaches that bar on black.

Questions

Does this work on a phone?

Yes. On mobile the page fills the screen when you tap the panel. Some browsers keep a thin status bar visible, which is a browser limit rather than something the page controls.

Will a cyan screen fix a stuck pixel?

Sometimes. A stuck pixel is lit in one color and can occasionally be freed by cycling colors rapidly for a few minutes. A dead pixel receives no power at all and cannot be recovered in software.

What is the hex code for this cyan screen?

This page uses #00FFFF. The same value is shown in RGB, HSL and CMYK further down, so you can match this exact shade somewhere else.

Does a cyan screen save battery?

No, and on an OLED or AMOLED screen a light color costs more power than a dark one, because every pixel has to be lit. If battery life is the goal, use the black screen instead.

Can I download this cyan as a wallpaper?

Yes. There is a ready-made 1920 by 1080 PNG on this page, and the panel above will generate the same color at your own screen size, at 1440p or 4K, or at phone dimensions. No watermark and no sign-up.

Is it free?

Yes, and there is no sign-up. The page draws a color; that is the whole tool.
